Two people died in a fire early Wednesday morning in Richland County.

Crews responded to a house fire just before 12:30 a.m. in the 1600 block of Chain Gang Road in Eastover. According to Columbia Fire the house was engulfed in flames by the time CFS units arrived.

Firefighters found one person outside of the property with significant injuries. That person was transported to the hospital, and was later reported as deceased. The body of a second person was found inside the home after the fire was brought under control.
