2 arrested on West Columbia armed robbery charge
Thursday, investigators with the West Columbia Police Department and the Richland County Sheriff’s Department made an arrest from a Sept. 20, armed robbery.
On September 20, Javon Emory Jenkins and Jonathan Wesley Scott Woods had their vehicle towed and were dropped off at UHaul located at 400 Orchard Drive in West Columbia. While there, the two men allegedly robbed their tow truck driver at gunpoint and fled with the victim’s property.
Following an investigation, the suspects in this case were identified as Mr. Jenkins and Mr. Woods and warrants were issued. On Thursday the pair were located at 1051 Southern Drive in Columbia and arrested for Armed Robbery, Kidnapping, Possession of a Firearm During a Violent Crime, and Criminal Conspiracy.
The Richland County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant at that residence following the arrest. Money, narcotics, and multiple stolen firearms were recovered. Charges for the two men are pending with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.
