14-year-olds arrested in the shooting death of Brookland-Cayce alumni Paul Swatsell
Columbia Police have made an arrest in the death of a cab driver Paul Swatsell, 53. Swatsell worked for Checker Yellow Cab. He was found shot to death in his car in the 4300 block of Brookridge Drive, in north Columbia, on Dec. 15.
Swatsell was a 1983 graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School. He listed Cayce as his hometown and he lived in Lexington.

Police arrested two 14-year-olds. They were charged with murder, armed robbery, and other offenses. Their names have not been released because they are juveniles. The arrests were announced Monday.
A police report said they were able to identify all the juveniles involved in the case based on tips and video surveillance.
Upon his death Stacie Emerson Bartlett commented: “Paul was a was a kind and compassionate person who would do anything for anyone. He was the perfect example of “ friend in need is a friend indeed.” His job gave him the opportunity to meet all kinds of people, many whom he influenced greatly. He loved Jesus and he loved his Brookland-Cayce Bearcat family . We will miss you Paul. You left this world a better place.”
