14 COVID-19 cases in West Columbia, 5 in Cayce
According to the the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control the number of cases of coronavirus cases, and deaths, are increasing in Lexington County.
Lexington County had recorded nine coronavirus-related deaths as of Friday. There were 271 coronavirus cases reported by DHEC in Lexington County, Sunday. According to data released by DHEC on April 9, Lexington County had recorded six coronavirus deaths.
There have been 119 deaths statewide, as of Sunday.
In West Columbia (29169) there were 14 cases as of Friday. Cayce (29033) had five cases and the 29170 ZIP code, that includes Springdale had 18 cases.
In Lexington County, ZIP code 29072 has the highest number of coronavirus cases with 49. It includes a portion of Sunset Boulevard in the middle of the Town of Lexington, and it is bordered by I-20, Corley Mill Road and Lake Murray according to ZIPDataMaps.
The second-highest ZIP code for COVID-19 in Lexington County is 29210 with 46. There was a tie at 32, for third in ZIPs 29063 and 29212. Both border Richland County.
Almost 90% of the COVID deaths are of patients 61 to 81 according to DHEC. That age group accounts for 50% of the confirmed COVID-19 cases. No one under the gage of 30 has died of COVID-19 in the state. The average age of death from coronavirus in the state is 75.
Richland County has recorded more COVID-19-related deaths than any other county in South Carolina, according to DHEC.
Richland County also leads the state in the number of confirmed coronavirus cases with 626 as of Sunday morning.
