
13-year-old male student died in Pine Ridge Middle School bus crash, according to Chester County Coroner
The Chester County Coroner’s Office has released age and gender of the person who died in a Pine Ridge Middle School bus crash Thursday afternoon.
The coroner said a 13-year-old male died in the accident on I-77, in Chester County, after the bus the child was on overturned because of a blown out tire. The coroner did not provide the victim’s name. He said the boy was in the eighth grade at Pine Ridge Middle School.
The bus was one of three buses carrying students from Pine Ridge Middle School. The students were returning from a field trip near Charlotte. The bus ran off the right side of the road, struck a guardrail and overturned, according the the SC Highway Patrol. The two other school buses were not involved in the crash. A release from the Lexington Two District in West Columbia said the overturned bus was carrying three adults and approximately 35 students.
