1 person killed in Wednesday night collision on I-26

One person was killed Wednesday night in Lexington County, in a collision on I-26 eastbound near the 104 Mile Marker, according to Lance Cpl. Matt Southern of the S.C. Highway Patrol. The accident happened around 9:45.

Southern said a 1990 GMC pickup experienced mechanical problems and stopped on the interstate. A 2011 Ford Edge SUV, carrying three people, struck the pickup.
The driver of the pickup was transported to a hospital emergency room, where the driver was pronounced dead, said Southern. All three people in the Ford Edge were wearing seatbelts. It was undetermined, said Southern, if the driver of the pickup was wearing a seatbelt or not.
