One person died, Tuesday afternoon in a one-vehicle accident on Shore Road, about 10 miles north of Gilbert, in Lexington County. Master Trooper William Bennett of the SC Highway Patrol reported the incident.

Bennett said a 2023 Nissan SUV was traveling north on Shore Road when it veered off the road to the left side and eventually hit a tree. The driver was taken to the hospital and died there. The crash occurred around 1:50 p.m., Bennett said.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the identity of the driver. The crash is under investigation by the SC Highway Patrol.
