West Columbia Meeting Street Artisan Market readies for new Thursday schedule beginning June 6

The West Columbia Meeting Street Artisan Market offers  a boutique shopping experience. The City of West Columbia-sponsored market at 425 Meeting Street invites you to play, shop, and eat.

The new hours for the market, which is next open on June 6, are from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursdays. It’s an open-air experience within walking distance of Savage Craft Ale Works, D’s Wings, The Attic; Terra, Black Rooster and many other locally owned shops.

Brittany Raven, who manages the Artisan Market for the City of West Columbia, discussed the new time and day for the market.

“With our Thursday evening schedule in the summer, shopping at the Artisan Market will be cooler,” she said. “And there’s plenty of free parking. We invite everyone to come out and mingle with the makers. Shop local and talk to the artisans, who are as unique as their creations. It’s a great place to socialize and then go out and explore the restaurants and other attractions in the WECO River District.”

Raven said a high-volume of vendors have signed up for this summer’s market. Some of the vendors are: Kristin Holzer of Kristin Holzer Art; Kim Gilbert; Q Borough Candle Bar; and Jessica Lopez;  Jessica Lopez a craft artist at xoxoJLo Crochet; and Reveca Camacho of Reveca Camacho Designs. The vendors are grateful for the opportunity.

“I absolutely love being a vendor at Meeting Street Artisan Market,” said Gilbert of Q Borough Candle Bar. “It’s such a cool vibe, the vendors are so welcoming and friendly and I love meeting new people. Selling my candles gives me a chance interact directly with customers and build relationships with them. I am so happy when I get repeat customers! This summer I will be at the market June 6 and 20, July 18 and Aug 1.”

Reveca Camacho Designs creates jewelry.

“I personalize jewelry,” said Camacho. “My creations are unique. I create necklaces and bracelets. I can personalize an item by putting any message you want,” she said. “Everything is handmade, too, so it’s one-of-a-kind.
Raven said the West Columbia Meeting Street Artisan Market has been popular since it opened in 2021.

“We get a high number of applications from vendors,”  she said.  “Adjusting the day and time of the market has had a very positive impact on the amount of interest from buyers and sellers. And as the weather improves, we’ll see more traffic coming through the market,” she said. “People want to get outside and enjoy the weather and the Artisan Market gives them the perfect opportunity to do that.”

So what are you waiting for? Make sure you check out the Meeting Street Artisan Market from 4 to 8 p.m. every Thursday in June, July, and August (except July 4). You will be glad you did. Contact the Market Manager at 803-791-1880 Ext. 279 or [email protected] with any questions. Click here for the Website: https://westcolumbiasc.gov/meeting-street-artisan-market/
