Driver experiences a medical incident and collides with a semi-truck, say Lexington Police

Both inbound lanes of Augusta Road (US-1) at Carlen Avenue were closed Thursday morning after a pre-dawn collision involving a car and a semi truck. There was no detour and drivers were turned around as they came upon the scene. Lexington Police were telling drivers to take an alternate route through the Town of Lexington, SC until the road was reopened after 7 a.m.

Police say the crash was caused when the driver of the car experienced a medical incident and was struck by the semi truck. The driver was transported from the scene by EMS and his condition is unknown.
