18-wheeler fire causes shut down of I-20 in Lexington County, Wednesday morning


Lexington County Fire Service units responded to the 55 mile marker on I-20 Westbound on the exit ramp for a tractor-trailer fire on Wednesday at around 6 a.m.

Crews found the tractor portion of the unit had significant fire damage and the fire was spreading to the cargo trailer. The incident was brought under control with no injuries in about 30 minutes. There was no fire spread to the cargo inside the trailer. There was a fuel leak that was contained by the Lexington County Haz-Mat team. A detour was set up and the area of I-20 will have traffic issues for the next few hours.
